Their greatest fear was contaminating an ancient Antarctic lake, buried beneath the ice for millions of years. They little knew the catastrophe they were about to unleash.
Olivia Wolfe lives in constant peril – she hunts people and stories down as an investigative journalist but this brings many enemies to her door. She is put on a case to the fields of Antartica as there is an expedition to drill through kilometres of ice to reach the subterranean Lake Ellsworth, looking for new life forms.
But the mission doesn’t go to plan and neither does the investigation.

In 2012 a British expedition to Antarctica attempted to drill through three kilometres of ice to reach the subterranean Lake Ellsworth. they were hoping to find new life forms and a host of other things. This drilling experiment was set to reveal a new stage in the search for scientific breakthroughs and there was a lot riding on it.
Lake Ellsworth is a subglacial lake located in West Antarctica under approximately 3.4 km of ice. It is approximately 10 km long and is estimated to be 150 m in depth. The lake is named after the American explorer Lincoln Ellsworth.
The journey in the book might jump from the Antarctica to Kabul to London and the Nevada desert and back again but the main setting and the thrill of the chase is definately the most fragile and frozen landscape on earth
