BookTrail Beach Reads
The sun is still shining in some parts of the country and even if not, what better way to feel the sun on your face, the sand between your toes than to read a book set on a beach or a nice hot location?
This weekend six new reads were taken to the beach and examined for beach reading potential. A book shelf was created on the beach and six books chosen for the closing days of summer….
They are going to take the reader to some very unique and different locations so here’s a run down of what to expect over the next two weeks of closing summer reads.
North East England – The Seagull
Suppposed to be a summer read and not out until September but Vera is not a woman to say no too so she stumbled up to the top of the TBR pile and sat there staring at me. Had a very nice jaunt to Whitely Bay to read on location and the story did not disappoint. A bit worried to visit St Mary’s lighthouse after reading this and at night the white dome of Spanish City does look rather menacing now but that ‘s how vivid a picture Ann Cleeves creates.

Central/South America – Do Not Be Alarmed
You don’t want to be reading this on a cruise or if you are going on a cruise anytime soon but apart from that…..get stuck in as you sail of to distant South America shores and get stranded on an island as the boat leaves you behind…
Greece – The Destroyers
A childhood game comes back to haunt on the sunny beaches of Paxo in Greece. Sunny landscapes and a blue sea to die for….
“The Greek island of Patmos was a wheeze of colour: bleach blond dust, scrub brush of wiry green , the wet-metal shine of water , and low rock walls blooming sinus pinks. “The beaches here were perfect and the sea like glass”
Don’t let the length of the book put you off – it may be a bit of a windbreaker but it’s a fine read and will keep the beach reading very interesting indeed as you soak up the rays and even when the rays fade and the shadows appear, you will then get more from the chills from the novel’s ending…
More beach reading very soon indeed….what are your favourite or current beach reads? Beach reads and books set on a beach
