The cry of an abandoned baby on the outskirts of an old Cuban town attracts the attention of a wandering tourist. Mia, is an out-of-work actress whose life is adrift, but who suddenly finds a purpose in life with trying to find a home for this little lost soul.
As she wanders about the island, she makes friends and allies and even a few foes in her trying to find a home for both the baby and ultimately herself.
