A full scale investigation headed by DI Hannah Robbins of Nottingham City Major Crimes Unit is launched to track down the killer.

Hannah is hot-headed, frequently succumbs to bouts of anger and often gets very frustrated in her work. Nottingham’s underbelly is not a nice place to be nor to investigate and it often gets to her.

There are some dark goings on in Nottingham – some stomach churning so be prepared. The atmosphere with two bodies and another girl still being held captive spreads across the whole of the novel, characters and darkens the city even more.

We visit St Ann’s Castle Boulevard (Park Rock) two developments in the city which showcase different sides to it. The dark streets and alley ways however all all over shadowed by the magnificent and imposing castle that is interesting yet shows the beauty and history of the city as well as its underbelly.

Hannah gives a first person narrative which ensures that the reader is close to the action. The girl captive gives another viewpoint and draws you into another claustrophobic and unsettling place.

The police work and investigation is one fraught with tension and tension. The pressure the Police are under to find the killer before the media start getting too involved is immense. Hannah has often only time to have a quick glass of wine and barely 40 winks before she is back on the case and trying desperately to solve the case.
