What you need to know before your trail

In 1886, the Gold Rush is in full swing.  Left to fend for herself in the wilds of New Zealand’s west coast, Lady Guinevere Stanhope is determined to do whatever it takes to rescue her ancestral home and restore her father’s good name.

Quinn O’Donnell also dreams of striking gold.

Forced out of his native Ireland, his fiercely held prejudices are not going to lend themselves to trying and make a new live for himself. He comes across Lady Guinevere and ends up rescuing her from a flood
Though a most inconvenient attraction forms between them, both remain determined to pursue their dreams, whatever the cost.

Will they realise in time that all that glitters is not gold?

Travel Guide

South island  – Hokitika

Quinn knew the town well, for its offered miners respite from the loneliness of the mountains and many diverse ways of losing all their hard-won gold. Like all ports and mining towns, it was a rough and rowdy place….

The water is delicious and when the characters fill their cups with water, they remark on the fact. You can’t beat water down from the snow apparently. The constant topping up from the rain helps too they say.

The town of Hokitika is quite the place to visit in the 2000s too:

Hokitika is easy to walk around  – it has vibrant art, culture. The heritage feel to the town is palpable in its museums and art galleries.  Nature is at your doorstep with mountains, rivers and beaches surrounding the town. The forests are where the book opens.
