When eighteen year old Rosie Anderson goes missing everyone is shocked and disturbed. The locals are hopeful she’ll be found as, well, girls like Rosie don’t go missing.
Kate, a lady who Rosie used to go horseriding with as shocked as anyone, as he daughter is the same age as Rosie. She feels there is something really wrong and then Rosie is found murdered.
Kate wants to find out what happened and so befriends Jo, Rosie’s mother and tries to help her cope with the tragedy. The family however do seem to be acting strange.
From beyond the grave, Rosie explains how she felt in the last moments of her life and just how ‘perfect’ life in the village really was.
Not so much a strong sense of place but a strong sense of the community and small village lifestyle where every one looks friendly and gives an impression of being wealthy and good. Peel back the curtains however and the reality is far from what is appears.
Family life in the village seems good – it’s a whirl of get togethers, horse riding and keeping up with the Joneses. Kate loves horseriding and she and Rosie love to spend time in the woods. When Rosie dies, she befriends her mum Joanna.
The facade then starts to reveal itself – Joanna, husband Neal and daughter are not the family everyone thinks they are. Rosie herself reveals clues from beyond the grave. She starts to become friends with Kate as Kate treats her like a daughter and gives her the attention she needs. Kate loves the attention she can give Rosie as her own daughter is too busy on social media. Husband Angus feels a little left out.
Lives entangled start to unravel – but who killed Rosie and why?
