Why a Booktrail?

2000s: A new series in crime novels – soon to be translated into English!

  • ISBN: B01CYHGBP4
  • Genre:

What you need to know before your trail

Edda is a lively lady in her sixties who lives in Reykjavik. She has just retired from her job as a bookseller and has loads of energy and a lot of time on her hands.

Her curiosity, sociability and love of mysteries lead Edda to discover other people’s secrets. And she doesn’t hesitate to get involved in dangerous situations, much to her family’s distress.

Travel Guide

Reykjavik

Edda, the main character of the novel ( (who could, perhaps, be described as an Icelandic Miss Marple) lives in one of the blocks of flats in this street. (The novel doesn’t reveal which house it is, exactly.)
(Please note that in Iceland a block of flats is not council housing or an estate.)

The Radisson Blu Saga Hotel

This hotel is just across the street from where Edda lives and her son-in-law, Viktor, works there as a waiter. So Edda often pops across the road to have a coffee and chat to him. In the novel, Edda is invited to dinner at this top-floor restaurant at the Radisson Blu Saga Hotel – where she enjoys fine dining and good red wine (which is her favourite drink).

Tomasarhagi street

Edda visits her grandson, Loftur, who lives with his parents and his sister at a street named Tomasarhagi – again in the east part of Reykjavik. The grandson helps Edda to “age” a photo of her old pen-friend on two websites that offer that possibility.

visitakureyri

The town of Akureyri in the north of Iceland. Edda is looking for an old German pen-friend of hers, called Vera, who might or might not be in Iceland. One of the leads that Edda follows indicates that Vera might be in Akureyri.
