Clough Road is the police station where the police in the novel work. Whilst the city has of course changed over the years, the criminality with it, the concrete brick it resembles seems not to have changed though.
Anlaby Road
As McAvoy is sitting in the car at the bottom of this street, he realises that this area of town is know for charity shops and pizza parlours A businessman tried to set up a club here but it lasted a year. The streets are a maze of small terraced houses with front rooms…There is no term in the official police guidelines to describe the locals here.
The crime scene in Walliker street is down this end of the street
The Victoria Dock Estate
Downey lives here in the novel. It’s a spot of Hull worth an explore for it plays a role in the city’s history
The area was bit with London Docklands in mind and marketed as an ‘urban village’ but has ailed to draw the middle classes away from the West Hull Villages. It’s a mixture of hard-working family and dodgy bastards.
