1894: Teaching can be damaging to your health
Miss Dorothea Gadsworth is interviewed for a teaching vacancy at George Street Elementary, but doesn’t get the job. When Monday morning comes around, her body is discovered in a locked classroom.
What appears to be a suicide note is found beside her, but DS Michael Brennan soon comes on the case and he believes that there is more to this case than meets the eye.
The door was locked from the inside yes, but staff members seem to have had plenty to hide and what’s more, a student is missing from the school.
Wigan
A nice Northern setting for a historical murder mystery and this time it’s right in the heart of Greater Manchester.
George Street Elementary is of course fictitious and George Street is not to be confused with great George Street off Wallgate. There is a George Street close by – but in nearby Hindley which ix some three miles away.
Wigan is where there is a lot of tradition and community spirit, a wigan branch of the Manchester national society for women’s suffrage and even a wigan and district bowling club on the outskirts of town
It’s a northern town, proud and steeped in tradition. Don’t forget to visit Mesnes Park – a green oasis in the town
