So when another dead girl is found in the dunes, another doll, he knows this could be his only chance to silence his demons.
Psychologist Dr Jessie Flynn is called in to help with the investigation. But she’s being led into a web of lies and deceit by a new patient called Laura – a deeply disturbed woman who wants Jessie as her friend.
When links emerge between Laura and the two dead girls, Jessie’s worst nightmare becomes reality. For in the dark world of a twisted killer, she begins to realize just how treacherous friends can be…
Despite the hideous crimes described in this book, the locations reflect a time of childhood innocence and plenty of beaches to play on.
It always surprised him how startlingly remote this peninsula was tied tote main stretch of the beach by a narrow bar of sand and stretching like a bloated finger into the neck of Chichester harbour fifth acres of silk soft sand dunes topped with kneevhigh marram grass where children could play for hours, disappear for hours, even when the each in front of the dunes was packed with holiday-makers
Just down the coast, the section of coastline is considered to be very beautiful in the novel and indeed in real life. This is a place where innocence has gone however for those in the story.
One of the characters has read about the beautiful , kilometres-long white-sandy beaches that stretched from Bracklesham Bay to East and West Wittering
Caravan parks like that featured in the novel are a good place to stay – well not exactly like the one in the book!
