2000s: Reeve LeClaire is not a victim. Not any more.
It’s been seven years since she escaped from evil psychopath, Daryl Wayne Flint. He held her captive for four of her precious teenage years, and now she’s finally getting her life back.
But Flint, imprisoned in a top psychiatric hospital, has been watching and waiting -meticulously planning his getaway. And now his chance has finally come.
His escape is Reeve’s worst nightmare. As he persistently evades capture, baffling authorities and leaving a bloody trail through the forests of Washington State, Reeve is hit by a fearful realization: She will have to face her kidnapper one last time.
His perfect victim. His little cricket.
Colleen J. Stan (born December 31, 1956) is the real life victim whose case inspired this story and the book before.
She was kidnapped and held as a sex slave by Cameron and Janice Hooker in their Red Bluff, California home for over seven years between 1977 and 1984.
She was taken when hitchhiking from her home in Eugune, Oregon to a friend’s house. The couple picked her up but then took her to their home where they kept her as a sex slave.
They placed her head in a small box which tied at her throat. The box
designed to prevent light, sound and fresh air from entering.
The case in the novel is very similar to this and looks at the girl and the captor’s point of view.
