What you need to know before your trail

Mackenzie is a 14 year old Californian girl who gets to go on a school trip to Paris. When there she meets up with an old musician friend of her dad’s, Rudee Daroo, who works as a cab driver in the city.

When he tells her that many of the greatest monuments in Paris are being either destroyed or stolen and that the city is slowly becoming darker, Mac wants to see what she can do to save the light in the city of light!

What would Paris be without its glitz and glamour?

Travel Guide

From sunny Upper Mandeville in California to the gleaming city of Paris….

Imagine yourself on a school trip to Paris and then getting involved with a plot to steal the light from the very city of light?

Not only that but imagine having your very own taxi driver guide to show you the parts of Paris other drivers can’t reach! One who knows your dad well, has an interesting musical past and who seems to live pickled herring juice…

Staying with fellow students in the Latin Quarter  will simply not do, but it’s like something out of another French children’s novel –

We didn’t managed the “two straight lines” thing, but it still reminded me of an American version of Madeline and her posse”

As soon as she arrives in Paris, Mac takes us along the Seine to see the booksellers, and one of them, Jerome takes us to see the Pont Neuf, one of the city’s many bridges. This impresses Mac and is part of a very dramatic scene later on!

Oh and to discover more through Rudee’s eyes – the Russian Church in the 8th quarter..

The part of the journey which takes you to an unexpected place has to be the Paris underground or Catacombs which reveal many secrets of their own. That’s not forgetting Les Halles  which takes on a life of its own…

And all the while, a city with so much art and glitz, the Notre Dame Cathedral is perhaps the most shining jewel of all. That’s not including the ‘Lighten up’ festival on the Champs Elysee!

Quite a setting for a young girl on a thrilling adventure!
