What you need to know before your trail

Runaway bride Frankie Ashford hops a plane to Norway with one goal in mind – find her estranged mother and make peace with the past. But when a slip on the ice in Oslo lands her directly in Jonas Thorsen’s viking-strong arms, her single-minded focus drifts away in the winter winds.

When it comes to romance Jonas knows that anything he and Frankie share has an expiration date – the British heiress has a life to return to in London that’s a world away from his own. But family is everything to Jonas and, as the one man who can help Frankie find the answers she’s seeking, he’ll do whatever it takes to help her reunite with her mother.

Now, as Christmas draws closer and the northern lights work their magic Frankie and Jonas will have to make a choice…play it safe or risk heartbreak to take a chance on love.

Travel Guide

Oslo

Dinner and drinks at the Ivy, London then a honeymoon on the private island of Cayo Espanto in the caribbean….it starts well, but Frankie is not happy

But now, she’s leaving it all behind to head to Oslo for some freedom. From a postcard, she ‘runs her finger over the swirls of colour in the Norwegian sky. Such beauty, such purity, such a perfect escape…”

Once in Oslo, she stays at the Hotel Grims Grenka which would be the ideal place to read this book!

“She walked through streets that consisted of a mixture of old ad new architecture. There were lots of trees and the pavements were impressively free of chewing gum and litter,”

Aker Brygge

The inner harbour area was busy and evidently popular because of its restaurants, shops, apartments and office buildings. There were plenty of places to eat and drink and Frankie wondered about the locations history so she stopped in a quiet spot and pulled out her mobile to find out more. According to the information she found, Aker Brygge was the site of an old shipyard, Akers Mekaniske Versted, which explained the combination of old and modern architecture .

Norway’s national cake

Verdens beste is the cake described on Frankie’s menu as Norway’s best cake.

The Northern Lights – Tromso

They drive about an hour from Tromso in the book to see the lights.

AS the darkness seemed to thicken and fully enveloped the camp isolating it from its surroundings, they went outside and sat around the campfire where they ate a traditional meal of bacalao….toasted marshmallows and coffee followed….while they waited to see if the lights appeared or lie outside on the reindeer skis and gaze up at the sky…..”

Booktrailer Review

Susan: @thebooktrailer

I do love  a bit of escapism with Darcie Boleyn.Off to the Northern Lights with this one and it’s very fluffy and nice to just head off with Frankie, spend time with her and her Viking man and then head to the wonders of Tromso. And oh that cake! There’s lots to enjoy here, it’s all very cosy but then sometimes this is just what you need.

The scene setting as ever is lovely with little snippets of history and observations thrown in. The colours of the sky, lying underneath reindeer skins….it might be a Christmas set read but I enjoyed this in the middle of September.
