What you need to know before your trail
When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike’s office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed, there is something sincere about him and his story. But suddenly, Billy bolts from his office.
Strike and his partner, Robin Ellacott, set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament, and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside.
Meanwhile, Strike’s newfound fame as a private eye means he can no longer operate behind the scenes as he once did. Plus, his relationship with his former assistant is a lot more complicated than anything else in his life…

Strike: : His office seemed stark and gloomy after Lorelei’s flat. Strike threw open the windows to let in the noise of Denmark Street down below, where music lovers continued to visit the instrument stories and old record shops that Strike feared were doomed by the forthcoming development.
Deptford High street
Robin realises someone is following her and turns into Deptford High Street whilst wearing a wig. She managed to give someone a fright on the tube as she takes it off once she’s happy no one is following her. She’s off to Corner Cafe on Lambeth road to meet Strike as this is close to the forensics laboratory where Oliver Bargate worked.
Red Lion pub
“…A snug Victorian pub whose brass fittings and etched glass reminded him of the Tottenham. Taking a pint of London pride off to a corner table…” he waits for Robin.
