2000s: A skull buried beneath a tree changes everything
One night changes everything for Toby. He’s always led a charmed life – until a brutal attack leaves him damaged and traumatised, unsure even of the person he used to be. He seeks refuge at his family’s ancestral home, the Ivy House, filled with memories of wild-strawberry summers and teenage parties with his cousins.
But not long after Toby’s arrival, a discovery is made: a skull, tucked neatly inside the old wych elm in the garden.
As detectives begin to close in, Toby is forced to examine everything he thought he knew about his family, his past, and himself.
The fair city gets a good exposure in this novel. Many streets such as Grafton Street and Temple Bar feature as places either visit or have shops of their own. Stephens Green is the place to visit and wander when ever you are there and one of the characters is here when his girlfriend calls him. Just been into one of the many bars in the area.
Of course not a real place as this is where the characters summered throughout their childhood and teens. This is where a human skull is found in the Wych Elm. You have happy memories of a place and then one of you finds a skull. Just imagine…
