What you need to know before your trail

Joshua is convinced there’s a family curse. It’s taken his loved ones, robbed him of his eyesight, and now his father has been killed chasing down a murderer.

His dad’s last wish seems like a blessing: the chance for Joshua to see. But as Joshua navigates the world of sight, he realises he is seeing things through his father’s eyes. Dark things; things he never knew.

His father was living a secret life. And there are consequences coming for Joshua – along with a killer drawing closer and closer…

Travel Guide

Travel BookTrail style to Paul Cleave’s Christchurch

It’s fair to say that Paul Cleave paints quite the vivid picture of Christchurch’s darker areas! Of course, this is all fictional, but he blends in a lot of the common and popular places into his narrative.

Hagley Park is where one of the characters in this novel had his first kiss. The central police station is a common port of call for the officers on the case and in this novel, there’s a visit northbound to the suburb of Redwood.

Paul also paints a nice picture of New Zealand in general as someone in the book drives north out of the city:

“After a while the distance between the road and the Waimakariri River gets narrower: at times, the only thing between them are rows of beech trees. There are moment during the drive when his breath is taken away bu the beauty of it all. He’s lived in New Zealand his entire life but has never seen it, and now he wants to see all of it. The mountains in the distance will soon have snow on them, the rivers and the lakes, the big, open skies, miles of isolation it’s no wonder people fly thousands of miles to come home.
