Cuchulainn wanted to be remembered forever. The greatest of heroes, his powers were magical. No one could outdo him in strength, or ever win a race against him, or beat him in a battle. He was invincible and tales of his deeds are still told. And perhaps the most famous of all stories is how Cuchulainn got his name.
Cú Chulainn is Irish for “Culann’s Hound is an Irish mythological hero who appears in the stories of the Ulster Cycle, as well as in Scottish and Manx folklore. He is believed to be an incarnation of the god Lugh, who is also his father. His mother is the mortal Deichtine, sister of Conchobar mac Nessa.
