Fresh Book Picks for March
There are some very good books coming out in March. Some of the best ones and the most immersive reads I’ve read for a while. With Spring on its way too, readers are in for a treat. There’s plenty of nice literary holidays to have without going anywhere until the sun comes out full time!
Just take a look at Fresh Book Picks for March:
The Silver Road – SWEDEN
Ok this is part of the Scandi week I’m having on this website. It’s been hugely popular in Sweden and now it’s out in the UK. It’s set in the most remote part of Sweden you’ve probably ever been to and it’s one creepy read.
“The road’s sole purpose had died with the closure of the silver mines, and it had become treacherous after years of neglect and deterioration.”
The Conviction of Cora Burns – BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND
Birmingham in the 1800s – what a fascinating place! This is the book where one line alone made me want to topple the TBR and read it straight away. So I did…
“Born in a gaol and raised in a workhouse, Cora Burns has always struggled to control the violence inside her.”
VERY evocative of time and place and worthy of a read as soon as it comes out. Put this on your list asap!
The Chemical Detective – BALKANS and CHERNOBYL
Talk about some random locations! This has places from Teeside all the way to the nuclear power plant site of Chernobyl. The author has experience of working in the industry so it’s all very authentic and realistic. There’s a sense of a roadtrip as well as the lorries deliver supplies across the Balkans. You get a real insight into the nuclear power and engineering industries. More than that., it’s a rip roaring ride of a plot…
Daisy and the Six – USA
A band travels around the USA at the height of their fame. This seems so realistic I had to check if the band were real or not. The music of the time, the feel, the heat of the road as they go to their next show….all very immersive and nostalgic. This could quite easily be a film – it’s got a soundtrack of its own anyway. Colouful, exciting, with a hippie feel to carry you along on the wave of the music..
That is just the start let me tell you So many great reads to be plucked from bookshelves this month and read whilst the reader feeds and waters themselves with cake and coffee. Ah if the spring sunshine comes out, that will be an added bonus!
Wake up and smell the fresh smell of spring books. Where will your nose take you?
