2000s: Sometimes you just have to escape…
Beth Martin is 31, newly divorced and wondering just what life holds for her…
Best-friend Heidi is adamant that all the answers lie in Corfu – the island where the girls partied away their youth. So cue a trip to a sun-drenched Greek island, ouzo cocktails, a trip down memory lane… and Alex Hallas, the man Beth has never quite forgotten.
As they dance under the stars, the sand beneath their toes, old feelings begin to resurface and Beth might just have a chance to take back her life. If they can learn to love the people they’ve become…
There’s a lot to see and do in this novel! Maybe even look for romance as in the book. Certainly try an ouzo sitting on the beach and travelling around the island.
From the airport, the characters spend their time in the northern part of the island in Almyros and explore the beach and the area around it. With the sun and sand, it sounds amazing. Clear blues skies and hot sun. Not to mention the sumptuous food!
Other places visited included Acharavi further down the coast and then to the town of Sidari with its clubs and beaches. There’s a very interesting visit to some caverns too.
Corfu is well evoked as is the weather, food, drink and rather hunky men!
There’s something so welcoming about a Mandy Baggot novel. The covers are always so welcoming but it’s the story that really invites you in and to join in with the characters.
I’ve never been to Greece but I feel I have with this novel and the ones before it. There’s cocktails, ouzo and oh the food! The setting with the sun, sand and romance is stunning and so well evoked, you can literally feel the sand between your toes.
