1920s: A father is desperate to marry off his daughter
In their townhouse in Richmond, Blue and her family are as happy and as close as can be – well, on the surface at least.
But with the arrival of a young, destitute woman hoping to escape her abusive husband, they must finally confront the rifts that keep them apart. When they welcome Delphine into their home – and their hearts – they think it’s for her benefit only. But what they don’t realise is that she will bring them together in ways they never thought possible…
Darling Blue is the story of three very different women who are brought together in Richmond, at the home they call Ryans Castle. Ryans Castle is not a castle but a very posh upper middle class villa. This is a very wealthy and popular spot in London for those who like to see how the other half live. There are plush shops, plenty of wine bars and restaurants along the river and you can sail away with thoughts of living here on one of the many boat trips.
Imagine the taffeta and wealth of the 1920s, the manor house, the young girls on the verge of adulthood and Richmond , with its white houses and manicured lawns comes to life even more.
