2000s: Book one in the Llys y Garn series
Kate Lawrence can sense the shadow of violent death and it’s a curse she longs to escape. But, joining her cousin Sylvia and partner Michael in their mission to restore and revitalise the old mansion of Llys y Garn, she finds herself in a place thick with the shadows of past deaths.
She seeks to face them down but new shadows are rising. Sylvia’s manipulative son, Christian, can destroy everything. Once more, Kate senses that a violent death has occurred…
A haunting exploration of the dark side of people and landscape, set in the majestic and magical Welsh countryside.
The manor house of Llys y Garn is fictional but set somewhere in hills and valleys of North Pembrokeshire
The author explains that crime appeals to her only as a traumatic turn of events that shakes people’s lives, the consequence of earlier situations or a trigger of later ones.
Her preferred theme for her novels is time and old houses:
“We all live with the consequences of our own actions and of those who came before us. Whether there is any justice involved is a matter of debate.
Settings, especially houses, are a major inspiration for me, mostly because they reflect their residents even more than dogs, and those residents leave an imprint that lasts beyond their occupancy.”
