What you need to know before your trail

A partial torso washes up on a Swedish beach, so mutilated that gender is only established through DNA testing. Detective Inspector Irene Huss of the Göteborg Police liaises with her Danish counterparts, who have a similar unsolved murder in their files. But when people connected to Irene start turning up dead, she fears she might be next.

Travel Guide

Travel BookTrail style around Gothenburg

The author points out that this book can’t be used as a tourist guide for either Copenhagen or Gothenburg, as there is plenty of geographical liberties and freedom taken with the streets. Well, crime fiction fans and booktrailers will discover a very interesting side to the cities! Copenhagen becomes involved in the case but most of the story takes place in gritty Gothenburg.

The beach of Killevik might be fictional but it would be in the area of Stora Amundön or just south of it.

Gothenburg is the stomping ground for a take-no-nonsense female DI. Huss is the name – and she works in the Violent Crimes division of the city police. The streets of Gothenburg are mean if you see them through the eyes of DI Huss. She means business and this means working on some tough cases and investigating criminals across the city.

Irene Huss is quite the Swedish cop: “Irene Huss is a 40-something wife, mother, cop, detective and judo expert.”

She is a woman working in a male dominated and very sexist police department. The case here is full of cases that have been in the Swedish Press over the years such as skinheads, Hell’s Angels and all against a background of winter darkness..
