2000s: A sad and shocking look at the red light district of a much loved Belgian city
This is the haunting story of four very different women who have left their African homeland for the riches of Europe—they are thrown together by bad luck and big dreams into a sisterhood that will change all of their lives for ever.
This is set in a part of Antwerp which many are not familiar with. It’s the story of an interesting challenge of moving to a new country and trying to fit in.
What leads African women in the sordid trade of prostitution? Pimp Senghor Dele transports women to work to Belgium charging them around 30,000 Euros for the privilege. Of course they don’t realise the type of ‘work’ they will be forced to do, but once there are there, escape is almost impossible.
If the red light area of any city has held any passing interest or morbid fascination for you – Amsterdam’s has even reached ‘infamous’ status – then this portrayal of the woman who know should make you think twice.
