1987. An isolated farm house. A snowstorm. An unexpected guest.
1987. An isolated farm house. A snowstorm. An unexpected guest.
1987. An isolated farm house in the east of Iceland.
The snowstorm should have shut everybody out. But it didn’t.
The couple should never have let him in. But they did.
An unexpected guest, a liar, a killer. Not all will survive the night. And Detective Hulda will be haunted forever.
Dare to venture out into the most remote farmhouse in Iceland. The setting of the remote home is in the east of the country and ‘miles from anywhere’. The atmosphere of the house is cold and utterly dependent on the weather and the elements. The snow cuts off the path, the electricity and the water. There is a fight to survive here. There are never any visitors apart from this one man who enters their home one evening. He’s says he’s lost his two friends when they were shooting, but there’s no gun and suddenly he mentions there were four of them in the group.
This is the landscape where you don’t control it, it controls you.
Meanwhile, the book flashes back to Reykjavík and a disappearance in Selfoss close by. All three threads merge to create a chilling tale of isolation, fear and the unknown. That mist allows nothing to go through it and you can’t see anything beyond it.
