2000s: A baby girl is snatched from the crowd of spectators at a St Andrews fun run
When a baby girl is snatched from the crowd of spectators at a fun run, the local police have a major investigation on their hands. DI Clare Mackay and her team are in a race against the clock when they learn that the child has a potentially fatal medical condition.
As Clare investigates she realises this victim wasn’t selected at random. Someone knows who took the baby girl, and why. But will they reveal their secrets before it’s too late?
The famous golf course comes into its own in this novel as it’s where a fun run is taking place (well nearby on the beach) . There’s a fun atmosphere until a baby goes missing. Even worse, the baby has a medical condition which means that it needs to be found asap.
The city of St Andrews is well evoked in this novel with the police moving around the city and into the surrounding area. The city is also a good backdrop to the action and proves to be a unique setting for a crime to take place – a fun run sounds nice doesn’t it?
With larger Scottish cities often getting the attention in crime novels St Andrews is a nice change.
