This nomination comes with virtual hugs for the author and an also virtual glass of something sparkling…..
Why this won: June’s Book (Trail) of the Month
Excellent sense of place
A very unique premise of a story within a story
The main character is someone who used to work in publishing
Two excellent novels for the price of one
A golden age classic and a brilliant detective from the 1930s in the historical storyline
The grand hotel in the novel is wonderfully evoked.
Love the cover and the title!
I loved this book for many reasons. It was clever, well-written and I immersed myself into it. Two locations, two main storylines. Readers are spoilt for choice!
Overall, the setting of the hotel was particularly vivid. First, a murder. Second, a disappearance. All the while, a book that could reveal the truth in its pages. This felt very Agatha Christie and golden age delicious.
