Competition: Win a signed copy of a Vera novel

  • Submitted: 27th January 2016

This Sunday is officially Vera Day. Well the new series starts on ITV so what better day to have a Vera celebration!?

The lady in the mac is back. She might blush a little as she doesn’t like a fuss but we’re going to celebrate her all this week by giving the Vera novels away  – ALL SIGNED BY ANN CLEEVES HERSELF.

vera-compTo enter all you have to do is  go to Facebook or in the comments below and  tell us what you most love about Vera and which book you would like to win! The titles are as follows:

The Crow Trap The Pennines

Telling Tales Yorkshire

Hidden Depths Northumberland

Telling Tales Yorkshire

The Glass House Set in a writers retreat…..

Harbour Street Set in Newcastle and ‘Mardle’

She’s not afraid to say things like it is. Vera is a tough talking no nonsense woman who gets people in the headlights and makes them talk. Set in  Northumberland and Newcastle, Brenda Blethyn is back. She is a brilliant Vera and captures her style and idiosyncracies really well. You know when you’ve read a novel and hope that the television version will really be similar to what’s in your head? Well Brenda and the cast for us really make it a great crime adaptation. In fact only one of the four episodes coming up is from a book – The Moth Catcher – the others are created by the fab TV scriptwriters and judging by past episodes Vera would agree that they’re just as canny as the books themselves.

Dark Road, Tuesday’s Child, The Moth Catcher and The Sea Glass are the four Vera episodes starting this Sunday at 8pm. Be there or….well Vera will soon be after you if you’re not 😉
