Edinburgh Books

The Great British BookTrail – Edinburgh Books – The cool thing about Edinburgh is that there are so many second hand bookstores with that special book smell that only used books have. It draws you in and makes you sleepy, want to buy a pile of books and never leave. Innocent looking store from the outside however, but wait until you see the delights inside…

Now this one was brilliantly ramshackle. Books piled into towers, piles on the floor, in boxes, above your head and under your feet. I swear I held my head up high as I wandered through this doorway.

Then there was this room…..where I met book friends such as McDermid, Rankin and Mina…

Someone had written this on the wall. There were quite a few messages there but this caught my eye. Think it was Jock in the previous photo to be honest…..

He has that guilty look about him….

True words though….

It wasn’t Jock I had to keep my eye on however. I had that feeling I was being watched….

Turns out there was a moose loose in this hoose….well it’s a bull but that doesn’t rhyme as well. His name is Clarence, don’t cha know. Yes, really.

Clarence the Bull was very real and he is the keeper of all the books here I am told. All those books everywhere, lying around, having a good time and waiting to be adopted.

Aaah. I adopted three. Well it would have been rude not to.

Before I went to leave….I found the entrance to the sacred book basement…

I may still be there at time of reading this. Who knows. Book basements are notoriously hard to leave….

Enjoy your time at Edinburgh Books when you go!
