The Great British BookTrail – Armchair Books
Armchair Books in Edinburgh’s old town
A delight to behold. That is Armchair Books. I’ve wanted to go to this book haven for ages. Just the name makes it inviting. Oh this was like cilimbing down into a book cave. I’ve never been potholing but I imagine this is how it feels to go inside a book cave. Books on the ceiling, on shelves twenty stories high, books in corners, books on ladders, books in nooks and crannies…

This had Harry Potter vibes to it as well..
Just look at the entrance…………..the world inside is darker than outside and full of adventures waiting to be taken…
I guessed it would take some fifteen hours to make my way down to the bottom. If I was exploring this place properly. There were so many nooks and crannies around the corner too…
A sign said ‘More Books’ so who was I to ignore that!

Then through the door to posters, typewriters, dolls, old suitcases and oh book heaven to be honest.
Just take a look at this lovely lot…. I couldn’t see sunlight and forgot where I was when I came out of the shop but it was totally worth it. Make sure to wear shades when you come out into the street. Book potholing can be disorientating when first back on land.
I selected two titles from the book cave, came out and spent the next few hours wandering around the old town, trying to keep that Armchair and gothic book magic alive.
You have a real treat in store with this one. Make sure you have time to go when you can linger and make the most of it.
