2000s: How wonderful does a cafe on the beach in Cornwall sound?
Evie Flynn has always wanted to be someone or something. She’s had many a dream over the years and her family now think of her as a bit of a drifter compared to her highflying older sisters. Whist Evie has been trying out being an actress and a singer amongst other things, she’s had to settle for being a temp while her sisters climb career ladders.
when her beloved Aunt Jo suddenly dies in a car crash, she leaves Evie her gorgeous beach cafe in Cornwall in her will. Evie sees it as a new start and a way of making a success from something. Cornwall has a lot in store for Evie and the question is whether she will grab it with both hands.
From a busy yet unfulfilling life in the city to a chance to start over in Cornwall/ A cafe on the beach no less! No guesses as to why Evie takes up the chance for a new start. It’s in memory of her aunt too whom she was very close to. It’s a dream that many people have – of living the life Evie now has the chance of. Not following the death of someone of course but the chance to make something of yourself and the cafe in a stunning part of the world.
“Jo’s cafe was set back just from the bay….it was the most magical place to stay.”
cornwall welcomes her with open arms – the people are friendly and chatty and the sense of community is something she’s never had before. Not like this. The fact that Lucy diamond dedicates her book to he family and for all the happy memories of childhood holiday in Cornwall says a great deal about her love for the area and how she’s described it in the book.
