What you need to know before your trail

Rosemary Woodhouse and her struggling actor-husband, Guy, move into the Bramford, an old New York City apartment building with an ominous reputation and only elderly residents. Neighbours Roman and Minnie Castavet soon come nosing around to welcome them; despite Rosemary’s reservations about their eccentricity and the weird noises that she keeps hearing, her husband starts spending time with them. Shortly after Guy lands a plum Broadway role, Rosemary becomes pregnant, and the Castavets start taking a special interest in her welfare.

As the sickened Rosemary becomes increasingly isolated, she begins to suspect that the Castavets’ circle is not what it seems…

Travel Guide

Discover the New York of Rosemary’s Baby

This New York is not the one you will want to live in. There’s a very posh and well sought-after apartment block called The Bramford where Rosemary and her husband wish to move into. They get their wish. However, they get a nightmare in more ways than one.

The apartment and the block itself comes across as very claustrophobic. The building is ornate and beautiful but the lifts are old and make a noise, the walls have ears and the neighbours….well they are something else entirely.

New York itself is evoked as a backdrop to the story. The great city that never sleeps. Ironic that the couple who move into the Bramford here are, most likely, never going to sleep again.
