What you need to know before your trail

It’s summer in the Isle of Wight, and the islanders have little more to do than munch crab sandwiches, sip pints of Wight Squirrel, and complain about the hordes of tourists arriving for the world-famous Cowes Week regatta. But when the local busybody drowns in the harbour, what was set to be a relaxing sailing festival starts to turn deadly.

This is a case that only art restorer Astrid Swift and her new art-club friends can solve. Soon she is embroiled in an investigation involving a grand seafront mansion, a dead billionaire’s nautical paintings, and a sailing prodigy who mysteriously went missing at sea three years ago.

The Isle of Wight has a reputation for being England’s most welcoming island, but even a friendly community can hide a killer…

Travel Guide

Isle of Wight and Cowes Week

We go at a time when the Cowes regatta is in full swing.

It’s a maritime theme this time with astrid working on a maritime art collection of someone who has just died. She’s only been on the island five mintes when she finds abody at the pier of Yarmouth harbour.  Cue a covert investigation. Then another dead body. The investigation ramps up…..

Good to see Astrid’s boat take a starring role in this novel. It’s been restored and so Curlew’s Rest is looking mighty fine!

The setting here is rather wonderful. If you are familiar with Cowes Week or not, this is a lovely atmosphere here. Boats, sailing, the clang of masts and the whipping of sails in the wind: all adding to create a very immersive experience!
