Three Dahlias
Oh a real treat! There’s everything here for a golden age crime setting. A large house of a famous author. An author of mystery novels no less. A Who Dunnit Evening where there’s a real murder! Sleuths in the form of three actresses who played the lead role in this author’s TV/film adaptations. Could I love this premise even more?
The story is a wonderful jaunt into all that I love about Golden Age crime fiction. I loved how the title Three Dahlias refers to the three actresses who play the lead character in various adaptations of the books.Oh to have been in that house during the murder mystery! When the real mystery kicks in, this just fired up all my bookish mystery dreams! I’d love to go to a manor house for a murder mystery weeekend and have something to solve (but not a real murder obvs)
This is delightful and a whole lot of fun. Quirky, with strong female leads, I’d like to see this on the TV. Ironically it does play out like a TV drama when I read it. Very atmospheric and I could even hear the music interlude between chapters….
A Very Lively Murder
Posy Starling, one of the Dahlias from the first novel, is finally filming her dream role – Dahlia Lively in The Lady Detective movie. The cast and crew head to a gorgeous house in Wales. And what do you know, the production is stained by stalking and …murder. Enter the three Dahlias who have really got to get to the bottom of what is going on.
Then there’s a second murder. And not only that, there’s a storm brewing outside with rain and wind battering the house and keeping everyone indoors. Well, the three Dahlias have a lot to do and I had GREAT FUN trying to keep up with them as they sneaked here and there trying to outwit the culprit.
Again, this has to be on TV. I can see the cast now, the set would be AMAZING and the music. Can I be an extra? I want to be friends with all three of them. And pet Hemingway the dog.
A Dahlia duo of delights. Can’t wait for more!
