The Kamogawa Food Detectives set in Japan
The Kamogawa Food Detectives
Down a quiet backstreet in Kyoto exists a very special restaurant. Run by Koishi Kamogawa and her father Nagare, the Kamogawa Diner treats its customers to wonderfully extravagant meals. But that’s not the main reason to stop by . . .
The father-daughter duo have started advertising their services as ‘food detectives’. Through ingenious investigations, they are capable of recreating a dish from their customers’ pasts – dishes that may well hold the keys to unlocking forgotten memories and future happiness.

Such a clever premise! We all have a meal or food that means something special to us. Something that has stayed with us for one reason or another. Something your mum used to make or your great-grandmother for example. It’s more than food – it’s a memory, a loving picture of a family, a moment in time, a treasured possession.
The cafe in this delightful book taps into this special bond between person and food and takes people on a culinary trip down memory lane. Imagine if such a place could serve you up that dish so that it tasted the same and infused the same memories? What delights it would bring!
I found this to be a very special read. I could taste every part of this and it tingled my taste and reading buds. Everyone who comes into this tavern is served up something most delightful. Take a moment to think what your chosen dish was and the memories it would serve up.
There’s just so much I loved about this. Not to mention the dishes I now want to cook after I’ve read about them and their meaning.
This is a very special book and I want to go to Japan and find this tavern right now.
