BookTrail the locations in National Dish

A novel to transport you around the world via food!

I love to travel and part of my experience is to try a new dish. The national dish if I’m brave enough ( France I’m looking at you) as I think it’s a major part of travelling. I’ve had some amazing dishes cooked by the locals in small cafes, tin huts beside the road and in someone’s grandparent’s house. This book brought some of those memories back

What I particularly liked was the fact the author picked a selection  of dishes and places and wrote about them. She hasn’t included lots of either and this works as there’s a lot of information on each one. There’s where to eat, who brought it to that country, how that food started to be popular and the history behind it. There’s lots of facts and although I did find it excessive sometimes, I’m the kind of person that likes that kind of trivia.

Have you ever been to Spain and eaten Tapas in a real authentic Seville restaurant. Oh that chapter brought back memories! How did tapas come about? Why do the Spanish eat them in particular? Why do some dishes turn into ‘national dishes’ and not others?

It’s food for thought. Sorry not sorry.

I have now eaten the contents of my fridge reading this and now need to go shopping.  This book will push up your food bill. Be warned.
