Best BookTrails of October 2023
The nights are getting darker, it’s getting chilly and it’s almost time for the bed socks to go on…BUT there are some fine, fine books to get excited about and get you through the spooky season.
Where can you travel to this month? Well, TheBookTrail Literary Travel Agency has some good deals for you to enjoy. So, what are you waiting for?
MALDIVES
The Island – Catherine Cooper
A few nights to get some sun in the middle of October?
There’s some influencers on this trip but still, you’ve been offered a free holiday so off you go. However, this island is so remote and so exclusive that no one will really know where you are if anything goes wrong. And you will soon find that you need to escape…
(not the book though – it’s fab)
GLASGOW – (but not as you know it)
Luda – Grant Morrison
THIS book is a performance. There is a Glasgow in this book but not as you know it. It’s called GASGLOW and it will confuse your mind, trick your eyesight and make you question everything. SO worth the trip! And it’s atrip in more ways than one. Unique, strange, fantabulous…and Luda is waiting for you!
LONDON
The First 48 Hours by Simon Kernick
Ooh get yourself to London for a short break with Simon Kernick. He’ll have you dashing around the city in under 48 hours without your feet touching the floor. But what a ride!
There’s some twisty goings on in this book and it’s non-stop. They say New York never sleeps. With Simon Kernick, London hasn’t got a chance either!
And the two gothic ones……
ENGLAND
The Black Feathers – Rebecca Netley
THIS IS THE BOOK. YOU NEED TO READ AT HALLOWEEN. Very atmospheric and very chilling. Honestly when I read this, a black feather actually floated into my field of vision and it made me shiver. There’s so much to love about this book and it’s PERFECT for reading on a quiet night with one lamp on, the rain lashing against the window and you, sitting on your own. ENJOY!
Darker still….
YORKSHIRE
The Palace of Shadows by Ray Celestin
A penniless artist is commissioned to build a mausoleum for a very strange, dark, gothic house.
Dark gothic house
Mausoleum
Ray Celestin
Enjoy your Halloween!!!
