Lessons in French

What you need to know before your trail

At first glance, Lessons in French sounds a bit like a Devil Wears Prada story  – Kate becomes an assistant to a powerful photographer in Paris. Recently graduated, she does all the tasks that she is asked to do.

However, it soon becomes apparent that she has been drawn into a rather unique family with an even stranger family background. The people that she meets and the relationships the have with each other are eccentric, quirky and fun to see as they reveal themselves.

What on earth has Kate got herself into?

Travel Guide

The family aside, the best thing you will meet in this book, certainly if you have done a similar journey to Kate after your studies, is Paris itself.

You will feel as if you are back there on the cobbled streets, the metal cafe sign swinging and creaking in the wind. The smells of the coffee, the yaps of the small dogs carried in handbags….you can see, taste and smell it all.

Carry on through the streets of Paris and you will be taken on an appetizing tour not only through Kate’s experience but through the cafes, museums and shops of the City of Light.

You’ll want to eat a crepe with a glass of cider after this and then go to Place de la Concorde and stroll through the gardens nearby with a little yappy dog at your feet.
