Travel Guide

North East England – Newcastle and Northumberland

Kate Daniels returns and as well as her city of Newcastle, we get to visit Rothbury, a quiet market town in Northumberland.

Rothbury

Rothbury emerged as an important town because of its location at a crossroads over a ford on the River Coquet. From here, it’s easy to get to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Alnwick, Hexham and Morpeth  The industrialist Sir William Armstrong built Cragside nearby; a country house and hunting lodge just outside the town. You can visit this house today, now owned by the National Trust.
