Why a Booktrail?
2000s: This is no soppy romantic or ‘finding myself’ book but rather a tour and history of the island too and well worth packing in your case instead of a guide book!

Follow the author Jennifer Barclay – literally step by step as she discovers the tiny villages, nooks and crannies of each and every bay and cove as well as meeting the locals.
Following a failed romance, she has come to the island to explore and to have an adventure and if you want some of the adventure too then her book is a great place to start.
She eats, walks and breathes in the life around her for an entire month and having learned a lot about the place and herself, moves back home to England where she meets someone. Will her heart be mended here as it was in Greece?
Many of us dream of moving to a sunny island somewhere in order to have a new life but Jennifer actually did it and this book is an account of her love affair with Greece, her plans after university to go to Athens and her life adventures coloured by the love of this country.
Many islands and places are described and evoked. Tilos for one is known for the goats, citrus trees and the heavy heavy heat. And for such a small island (barely 8 miles long and a few miles wide)there are some surprising sights along the way – an old fort and stunning beaches and coves such as Skafi beach.
“A secluded cove of red sand and clear water”
Such stunning descriptions of a simpler life and that’s the whole feeling of sitting on Tilos with Jennifer and watching, observing, taking in all the surroundings. Siga Siga you might say ( linguistic fans will love the introduction to the Greek lifestyle and unique phrases such as Siga Siga which means “Slow down and enjoy life”
Could you go to a sunny greek island, live a simple paired down life and live according to the seasons, the people and the flora and fauna?
