A novel to transport you to Alaska

I read this very short novel slowly. Like footprints in the snow, you have to tread carefully and take notice of each one. A boy goes missing in a blizzard. Everyone looks for him. Several people’s lives are changed for ever. Their stories float and flutter haphazardly like the snowflakes in said blizzard.
When I read this, the world felt silent as if the snow was carpeting my hearing. The sense of claustrophobia and isolation is key to this novel and it felt like a locked-room mystery.
It also felt like a thriller with the search for the missing. I could only see a certain distance at any one time and so this felt raw and chilling. ooh I felt shivers up my spine with the sense of time, place, weather and the situation.
The location is described as ‘ this isolated edge of the world’. That alone will chill you. Add a blizzard, a lost child and dark secrets and you have a treat in store. (Obviously just in book form – I don’t think I would like to go there for real!)
