Police thriller set in Norfolk
The Troubled Deep – Rob Parker
This isn’t out until Jan 2025 but bear with – you have to get this on your TBP list right now.
It’s a new series from a cracking author and it has as its protagonist, a cold case diver. Now tell me that is not unique and interesting!
Set in Norfolk – in those dark and murky Norfolk broads….

A new series about a police diver who goes searching for clues for solving cold cases is unique and refreshing. If this first instalment is anything to go by, we are in for a treat.
Cam spends so much time underwater that it soon becomes his sanctuary really. Somewhere he finds inner peace of sorts. He’s an ex-special forces solider with PTSD so is a complicated and damaged soul but his work gives him purpose and meaning. He is on the hunt for the missing Brindley family when he comes across their submerged car. He takes a moment to prepare himself for what he is about to find but when he gets the door open – there is no one inside.
The backdrop to this was a huge draw for me – a diver working in the dark Norfolk Broads. Remote and isolated and holding secrets. I have always thought about how divers who find bodies etc must feel and what they go through and this book was an eye opener. so much character and emotion from the start. Claustrophobic and chilling. Oh this was good!
It’s out in January and if you haven’t of Rob Parker yet (and if not, why not?) this is the book that will bring him to your attention and quite rightly so.
