2025: Could discovering a family secret encourage Kat to follow her heart?
Shattered by the sudden loss of her twin, Nik, Kat is lost in grief. The comfort of family feels both soothing and suffocating, but everything changes when she inherits a house on the breathtaking Greek island of Agistri from a mysterious uncle she’s never met.
Arriving on Agistri, Kat is mesmerized by its crystalline waters, lush pine forests, and the citrus-scented air. Among the white-washed houses and warm, welcoming locals, she begins to feel her heart heal. The island offers more than solace, sparking courage in Kat to face her loss — and maybe even embrace the spark of unexpected love…
But as she unearths her family’s buried past, Kat must also confront her own fears of belonging, forgiveness — and the possibility of rediscovering happiness in the shadow of heartbreak…
Agistri
Agistri is a small pine-clad island, with golden beaches and crystal-clear waters; you can see and experience all of this for yourself in the novel. It’s all very atmospheric and evocative of time and place. the nuances of the place and the scent of the plants around about you are all very nicely evoked.
It’s believed that modern-day Agistri was ancient Kekryfaleia, known to have been an ally of Aegina during the Trojan War.
A very special read this one. Deep and insightful with some tough themes explored. But I wanted to head straight to Greece straight after reading this. Oh the scene setting and the food and drink are just divine!
There’s themes of loss and love here and family secrets that have to come to the surface and I felt sad at times. However, this is a story where the main character learns to get to know herself and think about things in a new light.
Touching and heartfelt!
