DI Mike Yorke never mixes work and pleasure but it seems as if with his latest case, he is forced to. The case he’s now investigation on Holy Island has come a little too close to home. Aunt May is in a coma, street kid Smiler is seeing doom and gloom at every turn and childhood friend Dave is obsessively praying.
For it’s on this island which boasts of a mystical past, and which is famed for the Lindisfarne gospels and the Lindisfarne Priory and Monastery and this story picks up from where Thorn in My Side finished.

The Monks might now be at home once again in the Monastery but this is no place for sitting on your laurels and secrets from the past may well come back to haunt.
The island is small – home to only around 160 people. This is as much a character as the characters themselves for it is isolated, eerie when the winds whip the waters around its rocky shores or when the causeway to the mainland, to the only route of escape disappears under the cloak of the sea.
The North Sea surrounds and observes everyone like a prison guard would do to keep his prisoners in check.
