What you need to know before your trail

When a sixteen year old boy goes missing in a Tel Aviv suburb, it’s no surprise that his mother is worried. Inspector Avraham Avraham is not however as he knows better than most that it’s unheard of for children to vanish in this city. This boy does seem to have disappeared without trace however and so this case seems different from the start. Avraham does his best but makes a lot of mistakes along the way. This case is not going to be easy.

When the inspector finds a possible suspect however, he is going to have to go beyond the call of duty to see this one through.

Travel Guide

Welcome to Tel Aviv – a city where you do not want to go missing if the competency of the police here in this novel is to be believed.

The poor boy’s mother has to come to find the inspector himself as boys do go missing but they don’t just vanish as this one seems to have done. Search for him yourself is the answer.

It’s only the next day that the boy’s mother comes back and gets the help she needs. Then the investigation starts and the neighbours are examined. One neighbour is Ze’ev Avni who used to teach the missing boy and whose behaviour seems strange. The daily life of those here is hard and the conditions are cramped. Families live on top of each other and there is little space to breathe.

The Tel Aviv Police

Inspector Avraham is not the brightest policeman in the force and an insight into the complex and chaotic investigations shows this. that’s when he has time in between the drinking and the smoking. His colleagues are not much better on the whole although there are a few who really shine and get the job done.

“Why aren’t there any detective novels in Hebrew?”  Inspector Avraham asks the mother sitting in front of him.

“Because we don’t have crime like that”

Well Israel is known for its social and political upheavals and so this background is bound to filter into the lives of its people.
