What you need to know before your trail

Robin Bayley’s grandmother used to sit and enchant the little boy with stories of  wild Mexican adventures—of bandits, wild jungle journeys, hidden bags of silver, and a narrow escape from the bloody Mexican Revolution.

However, Robin always wondered if there were stories behind these stories stories and always wanted to start his own adventure following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather.

So that’s exactly what he did do – where he sought out the places where his great-grandfather Arthur “Arturo” Greenhalgh traveled and lived, determined to uncover his legacy.

He discovers a lot more than he bargained for.

Travel Guide

The ultimate meaning of adventure is all about the search for the truth that takes one man across country to the places his great- grandfather has told him about and which hold a special meaning to him.Visiting this locations will be both interesting and vital to him understanding his past and his family’s past so he travels many miles and  a few countries in South  America to try and find that truth.

His great – grandfather used to work  in a cotton mill in Mexico and so that is his destination of choice. However the author has to make his way there and to prepare for the trip,he learns Spanish and finds out more about the places he’ll visit.

What follows is a man’s personal journey and an investigation into the family tree mixed with a diary/travelogue stream of thoughts and experiences. The route to Mexico is  along one and the action really only starts in the place he was headed for.

From England to Mexico is quite a change of location and cultures, but Robin takes us with him as he navigates people such as witches, drug dealers and many people in-between.

It’s when he reaches the village where  his great-grandfather lived in that makes for the most interesting part of the journey as many questions are answered and the personal journey of one young man is completed.
