1868: The old sins and Long Shadows of the past are spreading out over Cornwall
Tragedy comes to Cornwall when Janey’s younger sisters die from scarlet fever aged nine and her grief stricken mother blames Janey for their deaths.
Janey is confused but desperate to win back her mother’s love and also help out with their precarious financial situation. She enters into service and soon works her way up to working as a lady’s maid at the elegant Cornish Country Estate, working for the powerful Brockenshaw family.
It’s within this dark and mysterious Brockenshaw family where secrets lie, the past comes to light and the future will change in ways where old sins and long shadows come home to roost.
A Cornish Victorian romance with a difference set against the backdrop of the magnificent Bosvenna Estate
“If you follow that sone hedge over the hill it will take you out to a road, turn let and the entrance to Bosvenna Estate is on the right”
The landscape of Bodmin Moor and its sweeping hills is as much a character as the characters themselves.
“Looking around she realised she stood on the very edge of Bodmin Moor with its vast expanse of granite strewn moorland stretching as far as the eye could see.”
