2000s: The Ambulist is the man who walks forever. Through the plains and vales of Northumberland…
The Ambulist is the man who walks forever. As he walks across the rugged and varied landscape of Northumberland, across fell and river, mountain and moorland, the nomad’s titanic figure is pursued
by people determined to discover his past. Is he an innocent traveller, a terrorist or someone else entirely?
This is an homage to the fells, rivers, valley and moorland of Northumberland. A poetic homage to the varied seasons, weather patterns and unique and unexplored terrain.
“January’s grip on the city and its river, on the fields and copses, peat hags, fells and mosses of the hill country did not loosen. If spring inseminate humans with the urge to leave and autumn whispers the need to return, to retrace, then winter is the season of the hearth, a time for staying: for stories, for magic, for fear of the night and longing for dawn’s unveiling”
To visit Northumberland and see some of the spectacular sites for yourself, Northumberlandia is quite literally the face of Northumberland – a lady’s body and face is visible in the rolling hills and undulating landscape.
If you yourself are an ambulist, one of the best places to wander and discover both the history and the landscape of Northumberland is Housesteads-roman-fort-hadrians-wall/
