#readforRio – Books for Children
Welcome back to Rio and #ReadRio in particular.
#readforrio This is also a nice campaign being championed by @BenchmarkEdu who focus on children’s books. They are “Looking to teach about current world events. How about using the games as a history lesson?” Now that is a team event definitely getting on board with. So we joined their team and picked out three children’s books set in the world of sport or one set on the rivers of Brazil to showcase the wonders of the country currently on the world stage. JOURNEY TO THE RIVER SEA
Now if you were sent away to live somewhere deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, you would hope for an adventure and in Journey to the River Sea, this is exactly what you get.
The journey starts when Maia sets off from her boarding school, with all her possessions in a suitcase. But before she knows it she is caught up in the hot and humid jungle.
Dangerous or exciting? There are some wise words about the unknown in this book:
“Those who think of the Amazon as a Green Hell bring only their own fears and prejudices to this amazing land. For whether a place is a hell or a heaven rests in yourself, and those who go with courage and an open mind may find themselves in Paradise”
