If you’ve even been to San Francisco, or even if you have not, you’ll probably have heard of the colony of sea lions who live there.Why there and when did they come here?

Like many of the human inhabitants of the city, they also were relocated due to the devastating earthquake of 1989. They have been there ever since and are now just as much a part of San Francisco as anything else. Stand near Pier 39, even ride over to Alcatraz and you will hear them clapping and making their unique call sign for what seems like miles.
