Or The Bull Kills you deals with bullfighting and its culture old and new.
“Either you kill the bull, or the bull kills you.” Chief Inspector Max Cámara thinks in proverbs, and he hates one thing above all: bullfighting.
One hot afternoon in Valencia, however, he has to stand in for his boss, judging a festival corrida starring Spain’s most famous young matador. That night, he is back in the bullring, and what he finds on the blood-stained sand shocks the city of Valencia to its core.
The streets of Valencia come alive and you experience the bull fighting controversy for yourself.
The fascinating tradition of Fallas is also examined. The tradition of Fallas – the main festival in Valencia which has an interesting history:
Years ago, the guilds stopped working at night and in front of every workshop, they would burn a rustic parot (a wooden device used for lighting). The workmen fed the fire with old junk collected from the neighbourhood and old strips of material. Afterwards, the parot would be brought to life with rags giving it a human form, with an old hat as the head, and so the Ninot figure was born.
On the final night of Falles, around midnight on March 19, huge bonfires light up the streets. This is known as La Cremà (the Burning), the climax of the whole event. Traditionally, the falla in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament is burned last.
